Business Management and Marketing
About me… I was born Maria Fernanda but everyone knows me as Fernanda. I’m 23 years old and Quito, Ecuador is my hometown. On Friday nights I hang out at Sub Zero Lounge. I live in a condo with my boyfriend. The most interesting fact I learned this year is that employers are interested to know you are willing to learn new things — that you want to grow as a person and as a professional. Your education does not stop after graduation, you have to keep going! My favorite thing to do outdoors is camping with my friends. I can live without listening to the news, I’d rather read it online. I am loyal, respectful, and a perfectionist. At 2 a.m. I’ll snack on Jell-o. My free time is spent reading, hanging out with my friends, and traveling. I admire my mother because she is the strongest, smartest professional woman I know. I will never take a “no” for an answer to make my mark in the world. If anybody says “no,” I take it as a “not yet.” The most awesome place I've visited since coming to UA has got to be Bear Glacier in Resurrection Bay, one of the most beautiful places in the world.
About college… I just graduated with a major in and Marketing and my favorite college class was Math and Negotiations in Business. Before college, the biggest misconception I had was that time went by too slowly. My favorite place to cram for an exam was Kaladi Brothers. My earliest class started at 8:30 a.m. The wildest thing a professor did or said in one of my classes was: “Why would you buy the book? Everything’s outdated there! Go on the internet!” The absolute best thing to eat in the cafeteria was the coffee that Ed made in the Lucy Cuddy Dining Room. The first item I bought for college was a planner. Make sure to use one, it saved me lots of headaches more than one time. The Student Union is the best "on campus" hangout.
The best advice that I can give to a rising high school senior is continue your education — knowledge is power!
